First Week at the Gym

This week was the first week of getting my behind out of the house and back into the gym. After finally creating a good playlist on my iPod, I went to the gym and ran, lifted weights, and did some pull-ups. The next day was I was feeling the pain, however the following day I went back to the gym and continued on. I was shocked that even though it hurt at first, I kept pushing through it and could not believe that I was not as sore as I was the day after my first day in the gym. This week I have been kicking around the idea if I should purchase the Eat This, Not That application. It offers you to track your workout and the calories you intake at each meal. We will have to see.

Apps of Choice

First things first is choosing the apps that will best fit this challenge. After looking at what each app has to offer I selected iFitness as my workout app as you can select the machines and track your progress. Oh and there are pre-made workout plans if you are not sure what you want to do, from a beginner to a golfers workout. The next was selecting a proper app for pre and post workout supplements, I choose to use MensHealth Smoothies app. The smoothie app lets you select the proper shake or smoothie for either pre and post workout or meal supplements. I am always eager to hear if there are any apps out there that offer more. Well off to the gym!

The Reason and Idea

The Reason:
I am 27 years old and have become a fixture in my recliner the past year. It has been months since the last time I worked out and have gained some weight in the mean time. In addition I recently quit smoking, what a challenge in it self. In my 27 years I have lost several family and friends to cancer and diabetes, including my mother (age 42) 7 years ago to leukemia. Because of this it made me realize that I need to start changing my life around. So here I am getting ready to embark on this journey. The next days will be painful, however they will be worth it in the long run. Off I go.......

The Idea:
With everyone starting to use new Ipod Touches and iPhones and the availability of so many options for applications to use as a part of our daily lives, I figured why not see if I can go through 2010 getting in shape, eating, and living a healthier life by using my Ipod Touch. I will begin to use different applications such as a workout app, nutritional apps, and logging and blogging my progress using my Ipod touch.
